The first thing that drew me into this book was the cover. It's not every day that you see cover art of a bull holding a yard gnome. But what really hooked me on this book in particular was that the main character, Cameron, is some what of a loner without many friends who gets swept up in something much bigger than himself. This may seem somewhat over used, but this story had something different. Cameron was diagnosed with a terminal disease and it is that which causes him to get drawn into this immense plot.
Overall this was a thrilling and adventurous story with the perfect amount of comedy sprinkled into it. Thais would be a good book for someone to read between the ages of about 13 to 18. thee ages would connect very well with most of the characters, major and minor.

SRA 3
"Hi, welcome to Buddha Burger. Can I take your order, please?" I say, pulling out a plastic tray and putting a one hundred percent recycled paper liner on it. I avoid eye contact by staring at the useless factoids: DNA, or deoxyribonucleic acid, is the genetic code that makes you uniquely you! Before they're your cruelty-free burgers, Buddha Burger cows are raised with sunshine and happiness. That's why they taste so moo-velously good! Recycling is good for the planet — and you and me. Let's all get recycled!"
This quote might not seem like much, but it actually ties into the story line very strongly and some what ironically. This excerpt is taken from the part of the book just before Cameron is diagnosed with the terminal disease most people would call mad cow disease.

SRA 1 July 2
In Chapter 1of Going Bovine, Cameron is a sixteen-year-old high school student who lives with his mom, dad and twin sister, Jenna. Cameron is caught up in a memory of the day that he almost died while on the It's a Small World ride at Disneyland when he was 5 years old. He was entranced by the machines and the lights and decided that if he stopped the ride he could save his family from all the craziness of the ride. Cameron jumped out of the boat, into the water and had to be saved by his father. Cameron remembers this as the most alive he has ever felt.
This is an odd start to the great book Going Bovine. It is not to long after this. Thought that Cameron begins having visions of an angle and learns that he has a terminal disease. The story line so far seems to be centered around this disease and the hallucinations that is causes. I have no doubt that this will be a very interesting read.
